Fernand-Séguin Distinction given by Réseau environnement
Yves Brousseau, Director of Commercial Development and Technical Services at Ciment Quebec Inc., received the Fernand-Séguin distinction awarded by the Réseau environnement for its article entitled La solidification/stabilisation au ciment: un nouvel outil pour une gestion durable des sols contaminés (Solidification/Stabilization of Cement: A New Tool for the Sustainable Management of Contaminated Soils) published in Vecteur Environnement. Yves Brousseau co-wrote this article with Jean-Sébastien Dubé, Professor at the Construction Engineering Department at the ÉTS, and Éric Hardy, Geo-Environment Director at Qualitas Montérégie.
Occupational Health and Safety Innovation Award given by the Association béton Québec (ABQ)
Unibeton won the Grand Prix for Innovation in Occupational Health and Safety for the development and implementation of an ice bascule in its ready-mixed concrete plants. With this bascule, ice blocks used to cool the concrete in the summer could be safely carried out, thereby reducing employee injury risks.
LEED® Canada-NC – Gold
Sobeys distribution centre, certified in 2010.
The distribution centre for refrigerated products is the first of its kind in Canada. Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) was used for the truck-loading and -unloading areas. This concrete, especially its formulation, has contributed to obtaining credits toward LEED® certification.

This select club of corporations has shown, through their actions, that they make it a priority to use electricity wisely. Ciment Quebec Inc. is the first cement plant in Quebec to be part of this network.

The Normand-Maurice building in Montréal was certified in 2009. The Normand-Maurice building is a green Canadian government building.

Carrefour St-David in Beauport with merchants such as Starbucks, Metro, TD Canada Trust, Subway, Uniprix and McDonald’s. The First Capital building was certified in 2009.
